Welcome to the continued feature on Rugby Union Rules presented during RWC 2011 in conjunction with Heineken.
‘This Is The Game’ is an ongoing series of Rugby videos and discussions during the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The series is hosted by Former England Captain Will Carling.
To say that I’m looking forward to this weekend is an severe understatement! After watching the Semi-finals last weekend it looks like we’re in for a great Rugby treat!
This week’s interview is with British Golfer Ian Poulter and is conducted in typical light-hearted manner by Will who gives Ian a hard time about being ‘skinny’ or as he put it Minim..Mimin..Minimalistic. There follows a brief discussion on diet and calorific intake, Ian’s design for the England Rugby Kit and Ian’s take on American Football which he describes as ‘girly rugby’ – “if you’re going to get stuck in get stuck in”. The interview finished with a flex of the ‘Big Guns’ by Ian.

Final Preview
Watching the Semi-finals and having seen the various strengths of the teams throughout the competition, we know pretty much what we will be getting from the All Blacks. A strong front row, fast running backs and Rugby Football co-ordinated by the impressive Piri Weepu executed on the hoof with a natural instinct for the game. The Actual match that we will see on Saturday really depends on the French Team that shows up. Whilst the line up won’t have changed significantly from the side that beat Wales, the team have shown patchy form over the World Cup run, with flashes of brilliance and horrendous mistakes in equal measure, the Match with Tonga being a significant wakeup call.
As a neutral, my desire is to see a great game of Rugby by two in-form teams, lets not get bogged down in contesting a few yards back and forward between the 22s, let’s see a running game, fast passing, accurate kicking and plenty of points on the board.
For my money, I think that the All Blacks as ever will be hard to beat. They’ve hardly been troubled during the competition but then again the French have never really played to their potential. What is for sure that it will be a fascinating game of Rugby, a shining example of the sport.
