Traditional rugby union kit 

• a coloured jersey usually called a "rugby shirt".
• a second shirt of a different colour for 'away' matches
  
• shorts,
• long socks 
• boots with studs
• padding can be worn on the head, the shoulders and the collarbone.
  

Rugby is an outdoor sport played by teams of 15 players. It uses an oval ball.

There are also faster seven-a-side variations called rugby sevens, which exist in both codes of play.
